No Awards For the Real is the epitome of staying true to the game and compromising for nothing. During an era of drug addicted mumbling rappers, this project is in a class of its own. AJ Snow teams up with 2x Grammy nominated producer Jansport J for a 10 track LP.
AJ Snow consistency has been unmatched in underground rap, releasing solid projects like Forever on Some Fly Shit, Mr. Fresh, Don’t Pop Pills, and Pop Champagne. Snow specializes in grandiose bars with a laid back flow. On tracks like “’83 El Camino”, he shows off his clever lifestyle raps: “Sports cars parked outside, this the fast life/I like fast money, she the fast type”
With the project being exclusively produced by Jansport J, the sound has a certain cohesiveness you wouldn’t have with multiple producers involved. No Awards For the Real brings hip hop back to its essence of the traditional one producer and one MC dynamic like Eric B and Rakim. Jansport’s track record is quite impressive working with the likes of Dom Kennedy, Nas, and Freddie Gibbs just to name a few. Jansport knows how to lure you in with nostalgic production like “Grindin’ For the Hopeless”, bringing you into his realm of a hustler and his inspirations. With top of the line production and unwavering bars, you can’t go wrong.
No Awards For the Real shows how great of a duo AJ Snow and Jansport J are, reminiscent of the legendary rap group Gangstarr. The tape is refreshing, showing that true hip hop is still alive and thriving.
